What is the KAAD Scholarship?
The Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD) is the scholarship institution of the German Catholic Church. It offers financial and academic support to students from developing and emerging countries who wish to pursue higher education in Germany. The scholarship is designed for individuals who demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to contributing to the social and cultural development of their home countries.
Who Can Apply?
The KAAD scholarship is primarily aimed at:
Students and professionals from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
Individuals who have completed a university degree and have professional experience in their home countries.
Candidates planning to pursue a Master’s degree, PhD, or post-doctoral research in Germany.
Catholic applicants; however, individuals from other Christian denominations or religions can apply if proposed by a Catholic partner and committed to interreligious dialogue.

KAAD supports postgraduate studies in Germany, with an emphasis on:

Post-doctoral research (2–6 months for experienced academics)
While development-related fields are prioritized, other academic disciplines that benefit applicants' home countries are also supported.
