What are the requirements of the Romania visas?
The standard list of Romania visa requirements is as follows:

Foreign nationals who want to stay in Romania for up to 90 days for tourism, business, or private visit purposes (among others) need a Romanian short-stay visa. To apply for a Romanian short-stay visa, you need the standard set of documents along with specific documents related to your purpose of travel, such as:
- Letter of invitation from a Romanian company, if you are traveling for business purposes.
- Letter of invitation from the event organizers, if you are traveling for a sports event.
- Any other documents which are specific to your purpose of travel.
Romania Long Stay Visa Requirements
Any non-EU foreign national who wants to travel to Romania for a purpose that requires longer than 90 days, such as studying or working, have to obtain a Romania long-stay visa. To apply for a Romania long-stay visa, you need the standard set of documents along with specific documents related to your purpose of travel, such as:
Certificate of police clearance, issued by your country’s authorities.
- If you are traveling for employment/professional purposes, proof you are authorized to exercise your profession.

Romania Transit Visa Requirements (A and B type)
Romania offers two types of transit visas:
- The Romania Airport Transit Visa (A Type), allows the holder to enter the international area of a Romanian airport and catch a connecting flight to another destination.
- The Romania Transit Visa (B Type), allows the holder to travel through the territory of Romania for a maximum of 5 days, on their way to another country.

Romania Visa Photo Requirements
The pictures you submit along with your Romania visa application must have the following specifications:
- Dimensions: 3cm x 4cm where your face takes up 70% – 80% of the picture.
- Background: Plain white – without any patterns or decorations.
- Photo quality: The picture must be professionally taken, with a high resolution. There must not be any shadows, exposure, or glare.
- Facial expression: You must have a neutral facial expression, staring straight ahead at the camera. Your hair cannot cover your face.
- Attire and accessories:
- Headgear is generally not allowed unless it is worn for religious purposes. Even so, the headpiece cannot cover the face.
- If you wear glasses normally, you may keep them, but make sure they do not have any glare or thick rims that obstruct your eyes or your face. But if you want to ensure your picture is acceptable, remove them. Tinted eyeglasses are not
- Specifications for young children: If your child cannot sit up on their own, they must be pictured from above. You may not be in the picture with them, even if it’s just your hands propping them up.
Guidelines of Romania Visa Documents
Since the Romania visa application process is divided into online and in-person document submission, you must have both electronic and physical copies of the documents.
The electronic version of your documents must follow the following specifications:
- They must be scanned
- They cannot be larger than 2 MB
- They must have one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, tiff, png, BMP, txt, RTF, or pdf
Additionally, when you submit the originals of your documents to the Romanian consulate or diplomatic mission, they must be in A4 paper format.
You must have an additional copy of every document you submit.
